A Little World Building…

I’ve pretty much abandoned blogging. There is that lingering thought in the back of my mind that I should return to it, I’ll open up my page and then get immediately overwhelmed and shut everything down including my thoughts. Part of this now, I am recognizing has been my cancer.

Yes, I had cancer, surgery to remove it, give me a colostomy bag, chemo therapy, another surgery to put me back together, and nasty neuropathy in my hands and feet and a continuous line of medical bills that will keep me company for awhile.

World building. I’ve been wanting to do this for my continent of Avonelle for quiet some time.

Avonelle hosts the countries of Belterra, Chambria, and Falway which I’ve introduced to everyone, however it also has other countries I’ve dabbled with writing but have yet to publish, and some of these stories might be on hold — indefinitely and live nowhere but in my imagination.

But today I want to tell you a little bit about a special animal that roams this map, dwelling mainly in the mountains.

The Roi Stag

This animal while wild and majestic is significant in both Belterra and Falway as we can see in this image of Falway’s Coat of Arms.

I’ve been trying to create coat of arms and choose colors. I really want to create banners etc. for these countries and hope to share those with you someday.

But the Roi Stag features neatly in a story I’ve been sitting on for awhile. Ivyanna, my first draft of this story was created maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaany moons ago. She was my second novel and the MC’s Jack and Ivyanna have a very near and dear place in my heart. I want so much for their story, I am having a hard time crafting a story I feel that is worthy and beautiful for them. I pulled it off the shelf thinking it just needed a polish, and to fix some plot holes and to narrow down the head hopping POV. Ha! The joys of delusion.

When this story eventually comes out I hope you enjoy the Roi stag and the legend I’ve been crafting to go with it.

Inspired by the Red Deer of New Zealand and influenced by the extinct Irish Elk I hope you enjoy this legendary beast in my stories.
